Balcony Makeover!

Moving to my new apartment I finally had a balcony that I could use! I love spending time outside in the mornings and evenings when it is not extremely hot outside so having a balcony is amazing!

When I moved in my roommate did not have anything on the balcony and it was covered in dirt due to no one cleaning it for years. Here is how the balcony looked like before:

I started off by washing the balcony from top to bottom. I removed all the spiderwebs, rust, and dirt. Just washing it made a HUGE difference. After that, I set up the bamboo fencing. I attached it with white zip ties to the balcony rails. We have had the balcony set up for a month now and it has been extremely sturdy!

Then, I started laying out my rugs, and furniture. Something that I did the night before was plant some flowers into pots I got from Lowe's. Having flowers made a big difference! Then, I needed to make poles where I could hang lights on. My solution was getting wood planks from Lowe's and hooks. I had to pry the hooks open a bit and drill a hole into the plants for the hooks.

After that, I zip tied the poles to the balcony rails and attached the lights to the hooks. Everything was finally set!

When everything was finished I invited some friends over for some fresh cookies and milk.

I can't wait to use my balcony more when it gets cooler outside!
